Healthy nails with no hang nails (homemade recipe)

After a long winter, our hands and nails are especially vulnerable. Nails break and peel, dry skin around them makes disturbing hangnails. Definitely, we need a special care. This homemade recipe will help to restore your nails and moisturize the skin around them. Say “yes” to healthy nails and “no” to hang nails!

         very easy

         No preservatives!

Jojoba, almond, olive oils nourish the nails, soften and soothe the skin around them. Lemon essential oil strengthens week nails and gives a refreshing scent to the product. Vitamin E helps skin regeneration. If you regularly use a nail polish and nail polish remover, this oil should become a “must have” in your nail care.

Tip: Use cold-pressed vegetable oils as they preserve most of the beneficial components.

The recipe:

- Jojoba oil (33%) - 1 teaspoon (around 5 g)
- Almond oil (33%)- 1 teaspoon (around 5 g)
- Olive oil (33%) - 1 teaspoon (around 5 g)
- Lemon essential oil (steam distilled *) - 2 drops
- Vitamin E ** (0.5-1%) - 3 drops (90 - 150 mg)

* It is important to use steam-distilled Lemon essential oil. Expressed Lemon EO contains phototoxic compounds that can cause skin allergy or sun burn in the presence of UV light. If you use expressed Lemon for this nail oil, avoid sunshine and other sources of UV light for 12 hours.

** I used dl-alpha-tocopherol with the activity of 750 IU per 1 g. If you have another type of Vitamin E, you need to recalculate the amount added. If you are not sure how to do that, just ask in the comments :).

I am definitely going to try it! Just need to find a bottle with a brush...

Looks nice! I'm just wondering if I can use this oil several times a day? Thanks.

Hello Jane! Yes, you can use it several times a day. The only thing is that some components of lemon essential oil react with UV light, making the oil phototoxic, so it is better do not use the product if you plan to spend a lot of time in the sun. However, if your essential oil is produced by steam distillation it should not be phototoxic.
